Where do the rates come from?
Live rates are fetched from the Frankfurter API (api.frankfurter.dev), which publishes blended foreign-exchange reference rates. Direct provider queries are subject to that provider’s terms.
Can I use this commercially?
Frankfurter states the API is free for commercial use and that blended rates may be stored or cached. Always re-check frankfurter.dev/license before redistributing data in a product.
Are these official bank rates?
No. Blended rates are Frankfurter’s own calculation and are not a substitute for official accounting rates. Filter by provider in their API when you need a specific central-bank series.
Why might a fetch fail?
Network issues, CORS changes, or temporary rate limits can block the request. Retry in a moment, or check the API status on frankfurter.dev.
