What is the data source?
The National Weather Service API at api.weather.gov. NWS states the information is open data, free to use for any purpose.
Why might the browser request fail?
NWS asks for a User-Agent identifying your app. Browsers cannot set that header freely, so some calls may be blocked or return errors. We surface those errors honestly.
Coverage?
Primarily the United States. Enter a US state area code (e.g. TX, CA) for active alerts.
